"Delvecchio" signs for Renaissance

The less famous Delvecchio

4 July 2007

In the biggest coup of the season Renaissance have signed Recreativo de Londres playmaker Jon "Sangre Vasca" Uriarte, otherwise known as "Delvecchio" ahead of tonight's clash between the two teams.

The complicated agreement reached yesterday evening has been shrouded in secrecy and involved months of meticulous planning and secret meetings. Money merchant James "Rembrandt" Lutaya and Chidi "Brunelleschi" Umeh spearheaded the chase for Uriarte and the deal was finalised after the two parties agreed personal terms.

Neither a Renaissance spokesperson nor Uriarte were willing to disclose the finer points of the contract but it has emerged that Uriarte will not play against Renaissance this season and will join them for the start of their next campaign.

The signing of Uriarte will send shockwaves throughout the Top Corner league and further confirms the intention of Renaissance's executive board to remove all obstacles which may hamper their bid to land the Summer League trophy.
