Renaissance ready to turn the tables on league leaders

Look out behind you!

27 June 2007

The fires have been stoked ahead of Renaissance's crunch clash with league leaders Venezuela. Renaissance sculptor and part-time goalkeeper Brunelleschi has expressed his lack of concern over the 4-0 drubbing Renaissance received at the hands of Venezuela and has claimed it will not be a factor in Wednesday night's game.

"When we last played Venezuela the league was a wrap, our holidays had been booked, and soon-to-expire yogurts were curdling in the fridge. These were of greater concern to us."

"I was surprised by their level of enthusiasm and commitment for a game with so little at stake but this time there'll be more to play for than the role of valiant loser."

The encounter represents a chance for Renaissance to climb into third place and Brunelleschi realises it will be a tough game against a tricky opponent. "They're a hard working side and very difficult to break down. If both teams produce their best it'll be a heck of a game."

Brunelleschi cut a circumspect tone when pressed on the topsy turvy saga of the Megatron signing. The former Enterprise frontman has yet to feature for Renaissance despite agreeing personal terms. But the deal is now under the spotlight amid concerns it breached Top Corner rules regarding third party ownership of players (rules B.u77 and SH.[T1]).

Brunelleschi said of the affair: "If he comes, he comes. There's a new regime in town and he'll have to buy the shirt and buy in to the bull$hit like everyone else. He'll be a useful acquisition if he joins but if not, we'll survive."
