The Round Up - not for the faint of heart

Do. Not. Approach. This. "Man".

13 June 2007

Here's an oldie but goodie. How many Renaissance artists does it take to change a light bulb? Ten -- one to claim the credit for eternity, and nine unheard lackeys to do the real finesse work while hanging upside down a ceiling.

And how many Renaissance men does it take to kick off a game of seven-a-side football?

EIGHT!!

Yep, eight. That's as funny as the Round Up is gonna get today and it's further downhill from here on in.

OMT is still in its callow youth, wet behind the ears, blinking uneasily into the morning light, and still so unsure of itself to sneak an extra player onto the pitch to make sure the win at all costs pledge is fulfilled. Yet, tonight it could be struck down before reaching its prime.

Ted Baker face Renaissance tonight and a goal fest is all but guaranteed. But with The Artist, The Shaman, Masaccio, and Brunelleschi all carrying knocks it will take an extra special mighty effort to knock The Almost Fabulous Baker Boys from their traditional early season pace setters role.

As Colin Presly concluded in his match report of last week's game with Avalon: "Ted Baker are next up, and if Renaissance lose out again, then the OMT dream will quickly become a nightmare." A nightmare. Cue Nosferatu.

Nosferatu isn't the sort of chap you'd want humming lullabies in a tree outside your bedroom window but, undeterred, he's coming to destroy OMT. He's creeping menacingly up the stairs, arms outstretched, teeth sharpened for the kill and ready to put OMT to eternal sleep. And he's gotta be stopped. Future OMTs depend on it.

The margins of error this season are gonna be slimmer than a size zero model sharing an LA prison cell with YoLanda and Rakesha from round the block. And when the margins of error are that slim and when you get off to a losing start your chances of survival drop. And fast.

Recreativo dropped just nine points last season and Renaissance cannot afford to have dropped six or even five by Match Day 2 if they have serious aspirations for challenging for the title. Tonight will offer a stern test of Renaissance's credentials and provide evidence as to whether they'll go out on a whimper or as potential winners.

private project
a short-lived affair with a mysterious woman.

test him!
used when a player is just about to take a shot on goal.
