Jenas: Not OMT material.
In any colour.
6 June 2007
Bang, bang, bang go the pistol; peep, peep, peep go the whistle signalling the start of another season of Top Corner's football in a cage. Another season of tears for some, heartbreak for others, and long, weary trips on London's public transport for all.
Something old
Welcome to the summer season and a super bumper special championship deluxe edition of The Round Up. The last time we rounded up, Renaissance were a rag tag bunch of desolate souls waiting for the season to end and for a Tarek shaped hole in the ground to emerge and swallow them whole.
And now? Well, Renaissance take on newbies FC Avalon tonight and will launch what some observers are calling the O.M.T. campaign -- a campaign in "which a number of pledges have been made to ensure the season ends with first place, nothing less," to quote The Artist.
They say this cat OMT is a bad mother. Shut your mouth! Hell, OMT is such a bad ass mofo that it rolls into town with its own blueprint:
1. Win the league, whatever it takes
2. Win the league, whatever it takes
3. But what if-.. - WIN!
4. But what happens when - JUST WIN
You get the message?
Recrea- WIN!!
Mama Round Up didn't raise no fool so we know it's gonna be no mean feat to wrestle the league title from the clutches of Recreativo. These twelve games sure ain't gonna win themselves. But bold steps have been taken to make it happen and Renaissance will fight every tooth, nail, and hussa russa to experience that magical night in Barcelona when English football dared to dream the impossible. © Clive Tyldsley.

Four seasons of loneliness,
ten years in the wildnerness
Something borrowed
Whilst Renaissance are using a maudlin George Michael number to musically score their season, league champions Recreativo de Londres have allegedly purchased the rights to perform Boyz II Men's "Four Seasons of Loneliness" in their bid to snag another title.
It can sure feel lonely up there at the top but Jon-Jon-Jon and Jordi will warm up to the dulcet tones of the soulful quarter caressing their ears. Meanwhile, FremantleMedia have chosen flop single "Them girls, Them girls" by Zig and Zag(ana) as their theme.
Renai Award winners
The Renai awards took place a little while ago and The Product was largely a success due to a deal struck between event organiser LDV Productions and SportAsia. The event was broadcast live throughout Asia for the very first time with an estimated worldwide audience of 800 million.

The Shaman and The Artist scooped a joint Player of the Season award, Da Vinci cartwheeled away with his Goal of the Season award, and The Artist won the Golden Boot award for the third successive season running. Tony Hadley wasn't on hand to enliven the occassion this time around but photos and video will be posted here, yes right here
in the coming week. And that's an OMT promise. Meanwhile check out previous Renai winners.
KEEP SCROLLING!
The Stats page has been spruced and includes all kinds of stats that The Round Up's North Korean gimp, Chi Dim Hue, no longer has to manually enter for a tuppence and a bowl of rice. Winning streaks? You betcha. Scoring grids? Absolutely. Pass percentage completion? Don't push your luck.
There's potentially much more to come and further changes could possibly be afoot over the horizon. So stay tuned. Maybe.
Something blue
Renaissance has had enough of danger
And people on the streets
They're looking out for angels
Just trying to find some peace
