The Rv2 round up

New and improved Rv2

5 March 2007

Renaissance was last seen scurrying from The Hill on Haverstock with their tail firmly placed between their legs after the humbling and humiliating draw with Aussie upstarts FC Warne. Cue seven days of soul searching, fasting, and self flagellation.

The Fallout from the Draw with Warne
Is The Artist carrying the team alone? Are certain players no longer pulling their weight? Who signs in under the name Dr. Socrates at Haverstock school? These are just some of the key questions that have buzzed around Renai HQ in the past few days and Wednesday's game with FremantleMedia may go a little way to finding answers to a couple of those mind probes.

FremantleMedia, a television production company, which holds the rights to TV classics such as Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak and Neighbours aren't likely to be rolled over but their record of four defeats from four games against Renaissance is one streak they'll be looking to slam the door on.

Anyway, The Fallout from the Draw with Warne has made things that much more interesting. Recreativo will fancy their chances of creeping up the table. Eight points behind leaders Ted Baker but with four games in hand, their game with Renaissance in late March has taken on increasing significance.

Brunelleschi blues
Brunelleschi's sprained ankle, sustained in a seemingly innocuous challenge against Warne, is healing fast and the walking aid has been discarded. Ligament damage around the ankle coupled with a hamstring injury that hadn't fully healed made for an unhappy past fortnight for Renaissance's current Player's Player of the Season and he will likely remain sidelined for the next few weeks.

And if you hadn't noticed...
Rv2 returns in March as promised in a bumper update and the first thing you'll notice is that our website has undergone a wee bit of a paint job. Player profiles and current stats are up to date; match reports have been added, new entries for the glossary submitted and everything is considerably nice. Super nice in fact. Past season stats and news will come at a later date. Your thoughts are welcome and are best articulated in The Forum.

Rv2 has also recruited the services of Sagat of Street Fighter fame to pass comment on Renaissance matches. Sagat, reknown for his curt end game remarks such as, "Accept your weakness. Never return here!" has teamed up with Rv2 to cast his one working eye over Renaissance and pass judgement. Check out the match reports for Sagat's sagely pearls of wisdom.

Tune in next week bright eyed, bushy tailed, same time, same place, same boogie...
