Renaissance 4 - 1 FremantleMedia
7 March 2007

Renaissance have bounced back tonight from last week's shock draw against FC Warne with a convincing 4-1 win over FremantleMedia. A suitable peformance had been demanded from them and they delivered to keep alive their dreams for the title.
The men in blue who had been in a sombre and reflective mood following their slip up to the plucky Aussie outfit, seemed determined to get back on track from the get go. Indeed they did, in tremendous style. As the whistle blew to start the game, The Artist rolled a pass to Verrocchio who let loose with a menacing drive that completely caught the keeper by surprise and gave Renaissance a 1-0 lead within seconds. The perfect response.
Following this, Renaissance looked to add to their tally. They launched a wave of early attacks which a shell shocked FM did well to keep at bay. The passing looked crisper and the link up play was a world away from last weeks shambles. However, as we know in football, when a team dominates they must take their chances. As it stood, at 1-0, FM could always find a way back into the game. They soon did. Rembrandt lost out in a challenge on the left hand side of the pitch and with the subsequent shot, the forward equalised. H/T 1-1.
Renaissance did not panic though or lapse back into bad habits. They started the second half in a positive fashion, with Cartman joining the proceedings as sub for Verrocchio. From here Renaissance bossed the game. Cartman had the beating of the FM custodian, but sadly not the post. The Realist also came mighty close but his shot was spectacularly saved by the FM number one.
Eventually Renaissance got their second goal of the night. A clever through pass by The Artist found The Realist. He made no mistake this time and put his shot low into the corner. The big number 8 soon left the field to be replaced by Verrocchio. A few minutes later the substitute got his second and the team's third goal of the game. Once again The Artist pulled the strings from the middle and played in Verrocchio. His smart finish now made the game safe.
There was time though for Renaissance to add a fourth goal with a couple of minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately, the FM goalie made his second gaffe of the night, as a speculative lob from The Artist well in Renaissance territory slipped out of his hands and rolled into the net. F/T 4-1.
Other results on the night have benefitted Renaissance. Venezuela's 2-1 defeat to Ted Baker has now left them with a mountain to climb. The plaudits must go to The Shaman whose dogged and tenacious performance earned him his first man of the match award. It is vital that Renaissance maintain this form. Six cup finals now await. Over to you Mr Sagat....
