Renaissance 3 - 1 FremantleMedia
7 February 2007

If there was ever a time to use the old football adage "a win is a win is a win", then it is would be suitable tonight. In truth, Renaissance produced a below par performance, but on a night cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey, it was all that was needed to claim another three points.
Renaissance started rather sluggishly as Fremantle hit the ground running. Although FM (Fremantle Media) lacked sufficient quality to press home any half chances, there was still a bit of hesitancy in the Renaissance back line early doors.
Things soon turned Renaissance's way, when they grabbed a rather sloppy opener. A decent shot by the Realist, but one that lacked any real power, managed to creep in under the FM stopper. 1-0 Renaissance. From here, the men in blue (and yellow bibs!) began to dominate proceedings. A nice string of passes led to Verrocchio playing in the Realist, whose neat finish made it 2-0.
As the half wore on, FM contined with a few speculative shots. The closest they came was when a shot, right on the stroke of half time, was tipped over the bar by Masaccio. 2-0 HT.
Rather than pushing on and looking to add further strikes, Renaissance seemed to drop the tempo and the game returned to its earlier state. The Artist and Col came on for Renaissance as they looked kill off the game. But it was FM who hit back with a smart finish. Unnecessary tension resumed. 2-1.
A nice solo effort from The Artist, ghosting past two and hitting a low drive into the corner restored Renaissance's two goal lead. This goal ended any hope that FM had of nicking an unlikely point. Renaissance had a couple of other chances with Brunelleschi and Da Vinci coming close, but really the game seemed destined to be a low scoring affair.
Once again, the mixed up fixture list of Top Corner has chosen to give Renaissance another non game next week. But nevertheless, they will keep on keeping on, and continue their march up the table. At the moment, with a few minor quibbles aside, the season is progressing nicely.
